Quite simply, a Yellow Jacket pastor is someone who went to Georgia Tech, home of the Yellow Jackets, earned an engineering degree, and then promptly went to seminary and into local church ministry.
I went to GT as a Textile Engineering major and I finished GT with a Textile Engineering degree. But along the way, I found myself very active at the Wesley Foundation at Georgia Tech and under the pastoral oversight of a man named Bill Landiss. Before it was over, I was a more educated, more excited, more liberal and much more committed United Methodist Christian than ever before. Plus, I sensed a call to ordained ministry. So, I went across town to Emory University and its Candler School of Theology and the rest is, well....
